Colorado Road Trip Day 1 // June 17, 2021

At about 8:30a, our family of 4 set off on our summer road trip to Colorado.

Our first real stop was at Centennial Park in North Liberty, IA to let the kids stretch their legs. It was hot and humid, with temps approaching 100. It looked like a brand new park, and had a whole separate section that had a decent-sized climbing wall and various bouldering structures to climb up. I had just as much fun as the kids in this area!

After reminding the kids that in a couple more days we would be climbing up actual Rocky Mountain boulders, we all climbed back into the van, cranked the AC, and continued west on I-80.

It only got hotter the further west we got. We hit a high of 104° as we entered Nebraska. I was definitely dreaming of crisp mountain air about now. We had originally planned on spending the night in Omaha, NE, but decided to press on to Lincoln, NE to make a drive a bit shorter on Friday. We grabbed dinner, and arrived at Country Inn & Suites around 8:30p. It was a successful 12 hour travel day!
